A Respected and Prolific Fine Art Photographer

World-famous popular music icon Kenny Rogers, who has recorded 59 albums and 22 Number One hit songs in a stellar five-decade musical career, is also a respected and prolific fine art photographer. The recipient of countless awards, including 4 Grammys, 18 American Music Awards, 11 People’s Choice Awards, and the 1990 Horatio Alger Award, Rogers added professional photographer to his long list of achievements. He published two books of his images: Kenny Rogers America, featuring “the skylines and vistas of this country’s great urban and rural landscapes,” and Your Friends and Mine, an ambitious collection of celebrity portraits including entertainers, athletes, civic leaders, and other notable personalities. “If they were’t friends before I photographed them, they are now,” Rogers writes in his foreword. “Many are such familiar and beloved entertainers and public figures that I imagine people who have never met them in person regard them as friends too.”

“Photography has grown from an avocation into a serious creative outlet, almost like another career. Like music, it gives me a great deal of personal satisfaction. In fact, I get as much satisfaction from my photography as I do from my music, ” Rogers says. “There is no question that photography has been an extension of my creative self, but it has also offered me an escape – a refuge of sorts – from the intense scrutiny of the public eye and the pandemonium of a packed concert hall.”
