Fine Art Lithograph, hand pulled on a vintage Maroni press; printed with the same process used by Mucha. Includes certificate of authenticity.
In 1895, artist Alphonse Mucha was hired by Sarah Bernhardt to create advertising posters using the lithographic process. Parisians fell immediately in love with his style, later to be labeled, “art nouveau.” An instant demand for the posters caused many to be stolen directly from wherever they were displayed on the city streets. During his six year advertising contract with Sarah Bernhardt, Mucha created this poster of her playing the male role of Lorenzo de’ Medici in Alfred de Musset’s Romantic play, Lorenzaccio. Includes certificate of authenticity.
