Hand pulled lithograph on vintage press, sequentially numbered.

Description

Eric de Coulon studied architecture at the ETH in Zurich before moving to Paris, where he spent most of his professional life.  He is best remembered for having invented the “lettre sujet” (letter – subject), which entailed building the images of products he was promoting using the gigantic letters of their names. In a totally different manner, he also designed tourist posters, which always reflect an elegant and graceful Art Deco style and he created some strong and dynamic poster with a brilliant sense of composition for the Klausenrennen which was from 1922 to 1934 the most famous of all the Alpine mountain-climbing car races.

The vintage poster was created in 1933.  The lithograph was recreated using the same hand pulled  process on a vintage press in 1997.
